Japan

Business in Japan is conducted somewhat differently than it is in the United States. While much business is conducted on the golf course in America, it is done mostly over dinner in Japan. After dinner, the host will always pay for the meal. During negotiations, the Japanese think it is very impolite to say "no," so they will often say "yes" when they mean otherwise. When conducting business in Japan, one should always dress in clothes that exactly suggest their status, and women should not wear pants, as men will find this offensive. One United States dollar can be exchanged for about 81 Japanese Yen. Because Japan is an island nation, its main natural resource is fish, but other than this it has almost none. It imports a lot of wood and exports mainly computers and cars. Its flag is white with a red circle. In Japan, the exchanging of business cards is very important, and done with great respect.
